Something Pretty For Me

Hiya, we are back from Florida ... had so much fun! Now I am busy getting all the laundry done and cleaning up the house. Since I have something pretty that I made for myself, I wanted to quickly post today for Natasha's "Its all about Me" party. The idea is to make yourself something... and post about it! So cute.

 

I made myself a necklace that I love. I actually made most of this necklace before I left for Florida but had a different pendant on it, but while I was there, I found this gorgeous German porcelain pendant in an Antique shop. I knew I had to add her to my necklace.

I love that it is really long...

And I used this gorgeous vintage brooch that I recieved in a swap with Niki. I had been saving it for something special... and this was just the thing!

Off on Vacation for awhile!

Just wanted to pop in and say that I will be back in a few weeks... we are off on a famiy trip with some great friends to the sunshiney state of Florida. Can't wait to get away for a little while.

Do you love me?

Oh my goodness, yesterday evening my 7 year old son was in BIG trouble around here. He was throwing fits to the extreme about getting a bath, going to bed, etc. Lately bedtime has been quite challenging, a phase? I dunno. My kids are both so different. My oldest very rarely threw fits over things and I used to wonder about parents that said they went through terrible twos etc... then my second son was born. Then I understood about all of those things!

ANyway, I put my foot down and told him he was not allowed to play outside the next day if he continues to act this way and he proceeded to carry on. He went to bed in tears complete with his stuffed panda and punishment for the next day. I mean, all the child raising experts say we moms need to use tough love... this stuff is hard!

soooo.... next thing I hear this little voice calling me and saying, Mommy, can you check the couch? I have something for you.

I go to the couch to find this...

This is the outside of the note... open it up and this is what I find.

Would you just LOOK at that???? I was crying and laughing at the same time! The little face with tears coming down... oh my gosh...melt my heart. The green pen is where I answered him.

 

The whole circle yes or no/sign here thing is just TOO much?? How am I supposed to maintain tough love after that???

So I sat him down and gave him a big old hug... and assured him that we still love him even when he is misbehaving... and there is nothing that can make me stop loving him. So this is the note I got this morning...

Ok baby... you can play outside until midnight, throw fits, buy as many toys as you want and eat candy all day.  Mommy loves you...

A Birthday Treat

A few weeks ago Natasha asked me if I would make her a necklace as a gift from her husband to her, for her birthday... I was honered that she would ask me! I know Natasha's tastes pretty well so I felt comfortable taking on the special order for her. She gave me a few little tips of things she might like... and this is my creation for her. ;)

I got the approval from her yesterday that she likes it! yay!

I am so glad she loved it. I loved making it for her! I feel like I have found one of my true loves with this jewelry making thing. ;) I need to make some time this week to make myself a few necklaces to wear while I am in Florida. So far, I haven't made  any just for me. It is on my LONG list of to dos! 

 
I am sure you may know by now that Ms. Ashwell's new book came out... oh I do love it! The book is so nice and big... and so many pretty photos! Her style seems to be changing a little to me? A little more wood in there... and some new colors... it is nice. I love it!

And I WANT this chandelier! Oh yes-sir-ee I do! I wonder if I could find a way to remake this somehow?? I am going to have to see about that.

A Pretty Little Box

 
Hi, I hope you aren't tired of hearing about my journaling project... lol... but I had to post about my box. This is the finishing touch for the journal. I love the way it turned out...

  

It is just like the icing on the cake... makes me smile. ;)

My Journal

The journal workshop is so much fun... there is only one more project left which is the box to store our journals in... but the actual book is done! I posted the instructions for the last pages today. Now I know most people that are participating are just getting started or have only done a few pages.. but I was excited to share the finished book today and how it all comes together! I am not quite sure why it feels as if I completed some MAJOR feat making this journal... but I do. and it was fun! It was just what I needed lately.

Although I had most of the pages "somewhat" planned out before I started, I did not complete them until the past two weeks. I wanted to kindof experience the workshop along with everyone.  SO here are the last pages to go in...

So now the book is full of goodies... and I love how they all peek out. What a wonderful experience to do this! I thank all of you that joined in...I also wanted to say thanks to those of you that couldn't join but left such encouraging comments. ;))

I will be leaving this workshop open to view for the whole month of October... so if you were thinking of still joining I will have it available to purchase for another week or so. You can get more details here if you are interested. There have been lots of others that have just signed up too.. so thank you all so much for such a fun workshop. We will have to do this again sometime.

We are getting ready to go on a family vacation in a few weeks.. We are taking a trip to Florida with this girl and her family... I am excited to go to warm sunny Florida when it is SO cold and rainy here! I am not ready for winter yet I tell you.
